“Tura Thursday” is a regular series celebrating the legacy of the late, great Tura Satana, best known as Varla in the 1965 Russ Meyer cult classic Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!. This series is curated by Tura’s longtime manager, friend, confidant and CEO of Tura Satana Productions, Siouxzan Perry.
Yesterday we lost a very dear friend, artist and avid supporter of Tura.
This is not what I had intended for Bud’s tribute… he was supposed to still be here, answering all the questions I sent him about his art, his love for Tura, his Native American heritage and so much more… but sadly he was taken from us far too soon, leaving me to finish this piece without him.
Bud was one of the most big hearted, generous, talented, funny, kind men I have ever known. He was a true original. His artwork hangs on our walls and reminds us every day how truly special he was and how lucky we were to call him our friend.
His love for Tura went beyond the word fan…and he expressed it in every drawing, painting, woodcarving he produced. When I first asked him to be in our Tura!Tura!Tura! art show he jumped at the chance and did several pieces and drove them all down here from his home in Oregon. Since then we have shared many stories and kept in close touch. He was so looking forward to the film and did everything he could to help us promote and share Tura with the world.
His death has left a huge hole in all our hearts. His art has left a huge impact on the world.
Below are just a select few of his many pieces.
Thank you Bud, you will in our hearts forever. Over and out!
