Thanks to Showtime, we have new episodes of David Lynch’s TWIN PEAKS now, but this isn’t the first time the show’s creator brought back the show following its cancellation in 1991.

In 1993, Lynch directed a series of TWIN PEAKS-inspired commercials in Japan for Georgia Coffee–a “damn good” canned Japanese coffee drink from the Coca Cola company. And along for the ride were Kyle MacLachlan and some of the other original cast (hello, Log Lady).

The ads are appropriately weird featuring MacLachlan with a new Japanese partner, Ken, as they try to locate a lost Japanese lady. Check them out below:

Twin Peaks had a white woman doing Yellowface: http://archive.is/kLRbi

But don’t worry! A real Asian man is cast as… “Asian man.” He is shot in the head by a–you guessed it–Asian woman who is married to an old white man. I mean, he also does have a name: “Mr. Jonathan Kumagai.”
