An undergraduate research assistant at Washington University in St. Louis is leading a productive discussion on race relations on campus.
It all started when a friend alerted Han Ju Seo that students at Washington University were complaining about the “Asians invading their study room.” That outraged Seo, so she posted a screen shot of the discussion on her Facebook page.
“Thanks for the reminder that no matter my citizenship, the years I’ve spent in America, and my proficiency in English, I’m always going to be a foreigner,” she wrote about the screen shots.
“No matter how much we excel in our careers, achieve incredible things, and work to the point of utter exhaustion we’re still unwanted. Go ahead and love my culture, love my food, and love my music; call me when I’m welcome.”
