UPDATE: Thank you to all of you who have shared this post, commented, tweeted, messaged and emailed Spread Shirt. They have notified us that the clothing prints in question have been removed and are no longer for sale on their website.
Here is an example of racist messages being printed on clothing. I am wondering why there is not a bigger outrage about this – seriously how can anyone in their right mind think that this is okay and acceptable? These clothing prints were found on website SPREAD SHIRT, which is a company in the business of allowing people’s creative juices to flow in designing clothing prints and messages.
A global platform for personalized clothing and accessories, we are the go-to-place for anyone looking to realize their creative ideas on quality fabrics. We value freedom of expression, whether it’s with your own designs or those made available by our community. T-shirts, sweaters, bags, aprons and a lot more can easily be personalized with images and custom text. Moreover, Spreadshirt is an ideal custom merchandise partner: Emerging YouTube stars and a large number of large companies and brands are among our esteemed customers. Our top-quality prints, custom t-shirts and services will make sure that your business hits it big.
So essentially it allows people to create clothing prints and sell it on their platform. But where I get the “freedom of expression”, and boasting to help those with “creative ideas”, any type of expression comes with responsibilities and how is it acceptable to sell a shirt with a racial slur. How is SAVE A DOG/SHARK, EAT A CHINESE acceptable? Can someone explain it to me? This message is extremely problematic and I am wondering why the site has allowed it. Doing some digging, there appears to be two designers who are selling this racist design.
The SAVE A DOG, EAT A CHINESE was designed by a Quentin1984
The SAVE A SHARK, EAT A CHINESE was designed by a Monigote
Either Spread Shirt is unaware that these clothing prints are being sold, or they just don’t care or give a shit. In any case, we all need to take a stand that this ain’t acceptable. The company seems to be global so I suggest if you agree that this is RACIST to flood them with emails to take these prints off their site.
FYI, here is their email address:
Here is there Facebook page
Their Twitter Handler is @Spreadshirt
My suggestion would be to flood them with a protest till these designs are removed. I will be emailing them and tweeting them, hope you can to.
