Check out Netflix’s first Indian original series SACRED GAMES
Netflix has its eyes on India and penetrating that massive entertainment market. The streaming giant joined forces with Indian auteur Anurag Kashyap (GANGS OF WASSEYPUR) and adapted a bestselling book by noted Indian author Vikram Chandra.
The result is the 8-episode series SACRED GAMES starring Bollywood star Saif Ali Khanin in an uncharacteristic role as a Sikh policeman in Mumbai who uncovers a conspiracy that has tendrils in government, industry and even the Bollywood industry.u
In true Kashyap fashion, the series is gritty, violent and captures the mean streets of Mumbai as if it is a bloody war zone. It’s SICARIO meets MEAN STREETS. Even the opening scene of the first episode is intense — a dog falls from the top of a skyscraper and smashes on the ground in front of a group of screaming school girls.
It definitely leaves an impression and expectation that you will go into a dark journey in the underbelly of Indian society. This is not your grandma’s Bollywood entertainment. It’s an addictive crime thriller that according to Business Insider, currently has a 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating. So, what are you waiting for?
SACRED GAMES is currently streaming on Netflix worldwide. Check out the trailer above.
