Our friends at Wong Fu Productions launched their original YouTube Red series SINGLE BY 30 starring Harry Shum Jr. (GLEE) and musician Kina Grannis yesterday. You can watch the first episode for free above.

YouTube Red is YouTube’s new paid subscription service (think their version of Netflix) so if you want to see the rest of the episodes you will need to pay. As far as I know, this is YouTube’s first series created by/produced by/starring Asian Americans and hopefully that’s enough of an incentive to at least give the project a look in this #OscarsSoWhite era where such content is still sadly rare. But in addition, Wong Fu (consisting of Philip Wang, Ted Fu and Wesley Chan) are some of the hardest-workers I’ve met in the biz, which speaks to why they’ve been so successful in the digital space. So give the show a shot and if you dig it, consider checking out the upcoming episodes.

Her’s a description of the series: During their Senior year of high school, Peter and Joanna made a pact to get married if they were still single by 30. After losing touch for 12 years, Joanna re-enters Peter’s life coincidentally at his 30th birthday party. Confronted with the unsettled reality of their lives, they decide to reinstate the pact to help each other improve their dating lives.
