WonderCon, the sister convention to Comic-Con in San Diego, held its first convention at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Historically, it’s been held in Anaheim and before that, in the Bay Area, where it started in the mid-’80s. The three-day con is expected to generate over $36 million in revenue for the local economy, and festivities were open on Friday with a ribbon cutting ceremony led by L.A.’s Mayor Eric Garcetti and R2-D2.
WonderCon’s new move to Los Angeles is a great thing, because it’s right in my backyard (even though Anaheim is not that far of a drive) and the L.A. Convention Center is already host to Anime Expo and Stan Lee’s Comikaze. It just makes sense to have WonderCon here in L.A., the hub of all things entertainment. Right?
Here are some of the coolest photo selects from walking the convention center over the past two days, which was so much fun. It’s great to be a geek in this day and age! Enjoy!
