Here may I present you a fucked up piece of shit American DJ/production duo THE CHAINSMOKERS. Over Twitter they recently shared a promotional video of them at the electronic music festival Ultra China, where they were interviewed about their success.
The Chinese interviewer asks one of THE CHAINSMOKERS member Alex Pall if he brings his dog on tours with him. The initial answers seem innocent enough you know – his dog being ill-behaved and he wished he could bring, but low and behold this effing idiot takes the opportunity to make a RACIST joke and says:
“Well I don’t know if I’d bring her to China,”
Pall continues to laugh like a complete fuckwit. The interviewer has an awkward look on his face and looks at the camera before asking another question, but because Pall is laughing uncontrollably, he is unable to answer the question.
The video has since been removed but there really hasn’t been any apology from THE CHAINSMOKERS camp. A spokesperson has since issued a statement, but it is piss weak and really a sorry, not sorry for offending people type statement. (via Buzzfeed):
“The interview was posted as it was meant to highlight how much the Chainsmokers love China and all of their fans there,” a spokesperson for The Chainsmokers told BuzzFeed News.
“When they noticed that comment was taken out of context they took it down as it was not meant to offend anyone,” the spokesperson said.
Errr not good enough, and how many more times do we Asians need to be subjected to such RACIST BS before these white people get it through their thick privileged skulls that this is not good enough! It seems that netizens on Twitter ain’t happy about this as well, including super star Korean pop group BTS (which The Chainsmokers have a planned collaboration with)…
Let us know what y’all think – personally I think it is shit and they need to make a proper apology.
