Well, it may look like 2017 is the year where #StarringJohnCho is becoming a reality.

After starring in COLUMBUS co-starring Haley Lu Richardson, where it had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival garnering rave reviews, Cho continues his streak with the LA-noir GEMINI, where it just had its world premiere at SXSW in Austin last week. This is the latest feature from director Aaron Katz (COLD WEATHER, LAND HO!).

According to No Film School, the film, which was co-produced by Gamechanger Films, headed by producer Mynette Louie (So Yong Kim’s LOVESONG, Karin Kusama’s THE INVITATION among many other indie and festival favorites), has been picked up for distribution by new outfit Neon, headed by former TWC-Radius head Tom Quinn and Alamo Drafthouse founder and CEO Tim League:

Gemini is a neo-noir murder mystery set in Los Angeles. It stars Lola Kirke, Zoë Kravitz, and John Cho as a personal assistant, celebrity, and policeman caught at the epicenter of a heinous crime.

“I love watching movies in theaters and it matters a lot to me to partner with a company that puts the theatrical experience first,” said Katz, who previously directed Land, Ho!. “Having the film world premiere at SXSW was also exciting. Being able to now bring this film to a wider audience with a great partner is all I could have hoped for.”
