The Emmys took place tonight honoring the best in television. And while there’s still much work to be done, this may have been one of the most diverse Emmys with winners running the gamut from Donald Glover (for both directing and acting in ATLANTA) to Reed Morano for directing A HANDMAID’S TALE.

And two Asians (specifically South Asians) also won in the major categories (UPDATED):

Congrats to Aziz Ansari who won for “Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series” with Lena Waithe (the first black woman to win in the category) for the MASTER OF NONE episode “Thanksgiving”! And congrats to Riz Ahmed who won for “Outstanding Actor in a Limited Series or Movie” for HBO’s THE NIGHT OF!

And yes, he beat out an acting legend and he is now the first Asian man to win an acting Emmy.

Congrats to all the nominees and winners!
