Evan Jackson Leong (LINSANITY, BLT: GENESIS) is a force to be reckon with. He’s been prominent in the Asian American scene since the BETTER LUCK TOMORROW days, and has worked diligently with the likes of Justin Lin, Far East Movement, Michelle Phan, Jeremy Lin and many others, ranging from documentaries, music videos, comedy skits and now he’s finally entering into the fray of narrative feature filmmaking with SNAKEHEAD, which is currently entering post-production.

We’ve been following this long gestating passion project for some time now, and Evan has even written about his hopes for this project on YOMYOMF. After spending the first half of the year shooting in NYC, Florida, and the Californian desert, the film is now in the can, but this very ambitious project is far from done. After a very successful Kickstarter campaign to get funds for production, Evan and his team have launched another Kickstarter to raise funds to finish the film.

To prove what he’s got, check out the first teaser for the film above.

Looks really promising. Starring Shuya Chang, Jade Wu and Sung Kang, this is an immigrant story set in the international crime ring of human smuggling. Just from the teaser alone, the film looks gorgeous and gritty.

Their new Kickstarter campaign for post-production just launched. I know this saying is so cliche, but “it does take a village” to make things happen, and SNAKEHEAD is the epitome of such a community-driven project. With Evan’s track record, as well as his whole team that produced LINSANITY, including producer Brian Yang, you know they’ve got the goods, tenacity and drive to make a solid, and perhaps even, an amazing film, Therefore, go and contribute and be a part of SNAKEHEAD.
