This week ERIN and KATIE talk about a lot of contentious and sensitive issues which impact on ASIAN WOMEN. This week we were joined by DR HARIATI SINAGA – an Indonesian political scientist, researching women workers Indonesia. Previously she has focused her research on how Indonesian women are treated working in the textiles/garment industry and now focuses on the agriculture sector.
These are our topics:
* The working conditions of Asian women in Asia, with a focus on Indonesian women in the garment and agriculture sector;
* How is feminism viewed in SE Asia, is SE Asia still very patriarchal;
* Comparisons of worker exploitation of Asian women in the West and in Asia;
* Is harassment of women of any sort readily reported in Asia (spec. focus in Indonesia);
