THE LAST JEDI’s Kelly Marie Tran deleted her Instagram account earlier this year after continual harassment by racist/sexist trolls and elaborated in a New York Times op-ed that her decision to do so didn’t mean she was “giving up”:

You might know me as Kelly.

I am the first woman of color to have a leading role in a “Star Wars” movie.

I am the first Asian woman to appear on the cover of Vanity Fair.

My real name is Loan. And I am just getting started.

Tran is at the Toronto International Film Festival with her latest project, Facebook Watch’s SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS, and was asked by the Hollywood Reporter if she would ever return to social media.

“I felt like I wanted to write something that was honest, that truly came from me and I don’t know if I’ll ever go back,” she said.
