Congrats to DESIGNATED SURVIVIOR star Kal Penn who is penning a memoir to be published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in 2019! The still-untitled book will feature a collection of essays and be accompanied by an audio book version from Audible narrated by Penn. From the Hollywood Reporter:
In the book, which aims to be both funny and inspiring, Penn will write about “his unique 21st century American success story” and “the challenges of navigating Hollywood, and his unusual sabbatical from actor to White House staffer.”
New Jersey native Penn, 40, is best known as Kumar from the three Harold and Kumar movies, but his extensive credits also include roles on House and How I Met Your Mother.
He’s currently a series regular on Designated Survivor. From 2009-2011, Penn interrupted his acting career to do two stints as the Associate Director in the White House Office of Public Engagement for President Obama.
