So if you are over the controversy of Iron Fist, then maybe you can move on and watch SAMURAI GOURMET, which is based on the popular Japanese manga series. This Original Netflix series aired on March 17. I haven’t watched it as yet, but plan to as it looks pretty good. Bravo TV continues:

A live action version of a fictional Japanese manga (comic) called Manga Nobushi-no-Gourmet, the series centers on Takeshi Kasumi (played by Naoto Takenaka), a recently retired businessman who discovers that the quest for amazing food not only makes him feel alive, it ignites a dashing younger persona inside of him known as the Wandering Samurai.

At least this series hasn’t been whitewashed, well that is my opinion without having to watch the series yet. Let us know what you think if you have watched it.

  1. Go watch it Erin. It’s not bad, but I have to say it’s a bit…well, preachy-er compared to it’s better production Kodoku no Gurume (Lonely Gourmet – highly recommended). Naoto Takenaka is a great actor so that helps a bit, but I believe there’s a BETTER Japanese food show to watch on Netflix: MIDNIGHT DINER. Please check out my review below and definitely check it out:
