Filmmaker Sue Ding is directing a documentary about Claudia Kishi, a character in the 90s book series The Baby-Sitters’ Club, who was one of the few Asian American characters in popular culture.

The documentary, which Ding started filming this summer, includes interviews with Asian American content producers discussing Kishi’s influence. Ding and her interviewees said the documentary highlights the importance of media representation by showing how a single character has influenced people to pursue creative careers.
