The 2016 Summer Olympics came to a close last night and amidst the pageantry and celebration, we were reintroduced to Pita Nikolas Taufatofua, the shirtless taekwondo guy from Tonga, who made quite the splash during the opening ceremony when he appeared carrying his country’s flag, dressed only in a ta’ovala (Tongan mat) wrapped around his waist and covered in oil. Lots of oil.
Shirtless Tonga guy may not have made a mark in Olympic competition–he lost in his only competition–but he’s clearly left a mark in many viewers’ hearts and other erogenous zones.
And more oiled than ever.

So thank you shirtless Tonga guy for reminding us that the Olympics are not just about competition and being the best, but also about looking good with your shirt off and somehow keeping that oil from sliding off your shirtless chest when the rain comes pouring down like it did last night. Now that’s skill.
