The Guishan Zoo, the first zoo in Yulin in China’s Guangxi province, promised visitors a special penguins exhibition when it opened this past weekend. But what zoo patrons found were not real penguins but dozens of inflated toy penguins.
After a big public outcry ensued, the zoo has since been closed and the unnamed owner said he didn’t know about the fake penguins until the day of the opening and that the zoo had been set-up by a contractor who promised the animals.
But never fear, the zoo did contain exotic live animals–well, apparently, there were turtles, geese and roosters. What do you expect for a $2.25 admission?
